The canyon was created by the cracking and collapsing which occurred as a result of basalt and andesit lava from Mt. Hasandag’s eruption. The Melendiz river found its way through these cracks, eroding the canyon bed and helping to form canyon we see today. The Melendiz river used to be called “Potamus Kapadukus”meaning the River of Cappadocia. The 14km long, 100 -150m high valley begins at Ihlara and ends at Selime. There are numerous dwellings, churches and graves built into the valley walls, some of which are connected by tunnels and corridors. This well preserved Caravanserai is 15 km from Aksaray, on the Aksaray-Nevsehir road. Its construction began in 1231 by Alaattin Keykubat, and was finished by his son, in 1239. The caravanseries which are located every 30 km on the silk road were hosting trade caravans. The small mosque rests on four pillars directly opposite the portal. Unlike in the other caravanseries, the closed area is not opposite the portal, but to the left. There is a stable, rooms for traders, rooms for entertainmnet at night. While you are making a visit of those monuments, you will do a voyage to the past Which means ‘Cotton Castle’ in Turkish, is known as 8th world wonder by Turkish people. The water (35 degrees Celsius) which is flowing down the cliff of Pamukkale has turned the area into as white as cotton color, and carved this fantastic formation of stalactites and basins. Pamukkale is a very popular destination for a short visit, the stunning white calcium pools, which cling to the side of a ridge, have been long one of the most famous picture postal card views of Turkey. It is the largest and finest example of elaborate calcium formation in the world, which dominates the landscape miles around. Pamukkale was formed when a spring with a high content of dissolved calcium bicarbonate cascaded over the edge of the cliff, which cooled and hardened leaving calcium deposits. This formed into great natural pools, shelves and ridges, which tourists could plunge and splash in the hot water. The calceous waters rise from the ground at a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius. In this white wonderland is an abundance of hot warm springs which are recommended for the treatment of high blood pressure, heart diseases, rheumatism, circulatory problems, nervous disorders, digestive maladies, nervous and physical exhaustion, eye & skin diseases and nutritional disorders.Topkapı Palace For the 1964 movie, see Topkapi (film). The Topkapı Palace (Topkapı Sarayı in Turkish) was the official and primary Istanbul residence of the Ottoman Sultans from 1465 to 1853. The palace was a setting for state occasion and royal entertainment, and is a major tourist attraction. The name translated from Turkish literally means the "Cannongate Palace", named after a nearby gate. Initial construction started in 1459, ordered by Sultan Mehmed II, the conqueror of Byzantine Constantinople. The palace is a complex of a conglomeration of four main courtyards and many smaller buildings. At the height of its existence up to 4,000 people resided in the palace.

Seven Churches of Revelations Tour (4 days)

Despite its modern architecture Izmir has a rich history. Izmir was known as the Turkish town of Smyrna up until 1923 and had been ruled by Alexander the Great and the Romans among others. The famous Greek poet Homer who is considered the father of the western literary tradition lived in what is now the Turkish city of Izmir in 700BC. Izmir became a major trading city in the 16th Century when the Ottoman emperor Suleiman allowed European merchants to live and work in Izmir. Gradually Izmir began to take on more European influences until the Christian and Jewish inhabitants outnumbered Muslim Turkish people in Izmir. In 1922 Izmir was invaded by Greeks who occupied it briefly. When the Turkish army pushed the Greeks out of the city the city was destroyed by a fire that started before the Greeks retreated to Greece on ships waiting in Izmir harbour. The great fire of Izmir allowed the Turkish city to be rebuilt on modern lines. Aphrodisias is unquestionably one of the most impressing ancient cities of Anatolia with its well-preserved buildings and numbers of magnificent sculptures from the Roman period. Western Turkey Tour (9 days)

It is on a hillside surrounded by large ports at the mouth of the river Maeander at the head of the gulf of Latmus. Now the sea is far off, silted up by the river. It had trade links with countries on the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. Miletus was of the most powerful and important Greek metropolises in Asia Minor and was part of the influential Ionian Confederation. The city encouraged erudition and founded several schools attracting scientists, architects, philosophers and geographers. Western philosophy originated in Miletus and it is the native city of famous men such as Anaximenes, Hippodamus, Cadmus and Isidorus. The first coins were minted in this city, exact weight measures were established and the Phoenician alphabet perfected. From the results of excavations, it appears that Miletus was actually the Hittite settlement Millawanda and it was certainly a Mycenaean colony by the fourteenth century Aphrodisias is unquestionably one of the most impressing ancient cities of Anatolia with its well-preserved buildings and numbers of magnificent sculptures from the Roman period. Being built near a marble quarry, the city was also an important center in the past with its famous sculpture school and for being one of the several cities that was dedicated to Aphrodite, the goddess of love. A small village close to the sea and praised by tourists and Turks on holiday for its golden sandy beaches. The sea however is not the only attraction for tourists, more so the ruins of the famous Temple of Apollo, a superb example of architecture dating from the Graeco-Roman period, and a sign of grandeur of this area, outstanding for culture and art. Even before the arrival of the Ionians, Difyma was a holy place and its oracle was much feared and much attened. The Persian King Xerxes destroyed the temple in 480 B.C. and looted many of the statues and also removed its vast treasury which owed its magnitude to the generosity of Croesus, King of Lydia. Alexander the Great decided to rebuild the temple after his victory over the Persians which had never been completely finished and was still uncompleted under the Romans, probably on account of its enormous dimension (one hundred and twenty meters long and twenty-four meters wide). Christianity put an end to pagan rites and festivals and prevented the temple from being completed. Indeed, in one atrium of the temple a basilica was built.See the Church of St. Anthony, established in 1725 to serve transient foreigners and the many families who stayed on in the Sultan’s dominions. Afterwards, walk to the historic Pera Palas Hotel, built to accommodate the pampered travellers arriving aboard the Orient Express including Agatha Christie. Next is Galata Mevlevihane, the monastery of Whirling Dervishes, founded by a descendant of Rumi in the 1490s.

Ankara is the capital of Turkey. It is the second largest city in the country. The city also holds the status of the capital of Ankara Province. It was known as Ancyra, which means, "anchor" in Greek. Being the capital, it is an important commercial and industrial city and the center of the Turkish Government that houses all foreign embassies. The Galatians, who were the first to make Ankara their capital, occupied the city in 278 BC. The city fell to the Roman Empire in 189 BC and became the capital of the Roman province of Galatia. It later became a gate to the east for Rome and developed much, achieving the status of "city-state". The city developed further after it became the capital of the newly founded Republic of Turkey and was divided into an old section, called Ulus and a new section, called Yenisehir. See the Church of St. Anthony, established in 1725 to serve transient foreigners and the many families who stayed on in the Sultan’s dominions.
